Hotsynch after change of laptop
I recently had to get a new laptop after the old one and all my files on it were lost to Blaster. I have quite a lot of copies on the M515 however, so to re-install Dataviz I downloaded a trial from their site to the new machine, but when I hotsynch I get always a fatal exception message, and all my files are still stuck on the PALM. Any idea how to get my old PALM files down to my new laptop?

Hi beachhutman - welcome to TSG.

Can you please post the Fatal Exception error you are receiving? That will help in determining what the problem may be.

First, from what I've read, the Blaster worm doesn't delete any files. If files are missing from your system, look for another cause, either another virus or a malicious user.

Second, why are you using a trial version of software? You need to reload your full functioning copy to your new computer. Trying to mess with the trial version is a waste of time. Its feature set is likely limited, so you're not going to be able to sync all your data.

Third, why on earth did you get a new laptop? No virus, certainly not Blaster, can damage your hardware. You only needed to patch your laptop, remove the Blaster infection, and you'd be back up running. Worst case senario, you reload the OS.
