Talking mac 9.1 chooser wont choose
mac g3, op sys 9.1,trying to get epson 740 to choose,it is in the chooser but it wont find it.
hooked with serial from epson to g3 printer port
tried modem port also, same problem, could it be a bad cable??

using a serial cable to connect? I'd use a usb cable.........
is file sharing turned on? If so, turn it off and try it.
Also, since the chooser doesn't have it's own preferences, try trashing the apple menu options prefs and/or the system prefs.
But with these newer computers and accessories, you should use the usb inputs.......... Good luck!
