I know little of what Im doing OK! I have a COMPAQ PRESARIO that use to have windows 2k on it,intil it locked up on me. A friend took it for months and could not fiqure out what the problem was and decided to put a new Western Digital HD in it! I have the Data lifeguard install Diagnostics Ultra ATA management floppy
It doesnt matter what I do it says Bad command or file name.
I can pull up the dir and reboot and that is it

Did your friend install an OS on the new drive?
I assume, from your post, that you are booting to the Diagnostics Ultra ATA management floppy? What commands are you trying to enter that result in Bad command or filename?
Do you have an OS cd? Assuming there is currently no OS on your drive, remove the floppy, insert the OS cd, and boot to it.
