Could this be due to the fact that it cannot see your keyboard? I know that Solaris has all kinds of problems booting if it does not see a keyboard.

Well, the problem was the IDE Cdrw and the keyboard/mouse configuration. The cdrw was not compatible with Solaris 9 and the ps2 keyboard and mouse were hooked up to a "y" adapter from the manufacturer of the Force CPU-56. Unfortunately the adapter does not properly work. I am using a Sun keyboard & mouse and a SCSI CDRW CD-W512S Teac now and it works fine. Thanks.
