Quick Question (i think)
Hey all. I want to turn off my internet connection for a little while without having to unplug anything. I'm on a network at a college campus with a t1 line. How do I go about doing this?

In my system tray, in the lower right corner of the screen (Win XP Home Ed.), there is a small icon, that looks like two monitors (one is sorta behind the other). If it blinks very slowly, or doesn't have a red X over it, that tells me I'm online. I can right click it, then click on disconnect, to go offline. But.........I'm on dialup. I have no idea if this will disconnect you from a connection like yours. Maybe someone else knows.............
Good luck!

thanks, but...
This is a mac forum, remember? I have dialup on my home computer, which has win xp. I'm on a mac with OSX and a t1 line, so as far as I can see there is no icon for disconnecting. Thanks for trying though.

It's a Mac/Dos/PDA/Other forum..............
Don't know anything about OSX.
On a mac with OS9, there is a control strip with an icon of a monitor with a telephone pole beside it, that you can do the same thing with, as I mentioned for XP.
If your computer also has OS9 on it, you can try it there..........

(another example............)
