Exclamation Need help despritly with formatting a Mac HDD!!
I was wondering if it is posible to format a Mac HDD from a PC, i have tryed booting from the mac OS9 and Mac OS X 10.2 CD from this iMac i have, it refuses to boot from a CD dispite every hot key ive used, the HDD that is inside is currently unformatted, i have written zeros over the entire HDD with a program that came with my old HDD, now when i turn it on, it flashes a folder with a questionmark on it then to a smiley face, thats all it does now... Any sugestions will be helpfull!! ^_^

Do you have, or can you borrow a Norton Utilities disk?
If so, try to boot from that disc. If it does, run Disk Doctor, and see if you can boot from system disk after that. The HD should've had a disc with it, for formatting it. It should format to HSF+.
Good luck!

I will see if i can get my paws on that software, but in the mean time is their any other suguestions, I had a crazy idea, if I can find someone wih the same iMac as me swap HDD's and try to install the OS from their and then put it back into mine, im not sure if that will work, im not sure if its just my iMac that cant boot from a CD, so thats the only other idea i can think of for now.

If any one has any other crazy ideas to put out their, or to add to mine, go right ahead, any ideas are better then none as I always say ^__^

press the "OPTION" key on startup. Select your CD. Go Disk Utility to format and mount your HD. Then start OS installation.
