I have an old 486/33 I was going to replace in March. I must have hurt its feeling. I leave it on constantly. I found a message "Can't initialize drive, what type" on the screen.I hit reset and got something to the effect "Check connection". A friend said it sounded like a video card. I turned it off and restarted it and it began to boot and then locked up.
I left it off and restarted later and it does nothing. The screen is blank. My indicator lights are on but it doesn't begin to boot and my fans don't run. Has original C drive and battery. Any suggestions?

If the fans that are not running are your power supply fan and processor fan it sounds like part of your power supply has burnt out. you might try disconnecting the power leads to your drives to see if your fans will run. If not it might be best to get that new system now. BOL
