Is anyone aware of a way of running a command using a variable which takes its input from a text file?

i.e.
i have a text file with
namea
nameb
namec
etc


i want to run a command on namea then nameb then namec....etc

With just DOS commands? Nope. DOS doesn't have any commands to open another file and pull information from it.

You could do that very easily in BASIC, which comes included with DOS... Of course, if you want to compile it into an EXE so it would run on any machine, you would need the full BASIC program, which I don't think is made anymore.
