My computer is not detecting my hard drive.
I tried re-installing factory settings but I was not able to continue because a message appears "cannot read drive C:\.
Can somebody tell me how to get it to read it again. What do I do?

cannot read drive generally means one of two things.

1) You have a setting wrong in BIOS

2) The drive has gone bad

What brand / model drive is this?

Normally, a can't read drive c error constitues one of the following.
1. The information on the disk is not able to be used thus resulting in the need to format the drive.
2. The drive has crashed and you will need to replace the drive.

Due to the fact you get to the point where it says unable to read drive c, this tells you that your system bios is finding the drive fine.

if you are using a new hd on an old machine you might need a bios overlay. you candownload one from www.seagate.com and search for "ontrack dynamic drive overlay" you should find the newest version there.
