I have a Bronze G-3 laptop that I wish to use both at work (where I connect via the ethernet port to a LAN using DHCP) and at home (where I will need to connect via a cable modem through the ethernet port using DHCP). We have another computer that successfully connects via DHCP, using the ehernet port and the cable modem.

My problem is that, no matter what I do to try to change the TCP/IP settings, the "work" DHCP numbers appear when trying to connect to the cable modem. I have tried creating a "new" configuration from scratch, I have tried creating a bogus configuration to get rid of the existing numbers and then gone back to a new DHCP setting. In all cases, when DHCP is selected, all of the numbers are blank (before connecting to the DHCP server) until I connect. Once I try connecting through the cable modem, with DHCP server selected, my work settings reappear. Obviously, these setting are hanging around somehow, but I cannot figure it out. I have tried making changes through both TCP/IP control panel and the Location Manager, to no avail.

I appreciate any help or ideas.

Thanks!

Hi jsteve07
I don't know the answer but I think you will get more responses if you request a moderator and move this question to the internet/networking forum BOL
