Reinstall win98 via dos? Hi,
A virus has changed all of the important files in my computer to long files names. I ran chdsk and it changed the file names again.
When I try to boot up I get a message MSDos not found.
But when I boot up with a start disk, I get Dos.
I can get the system to recognize the CD rom.
But it won't re-install windows thru Dos.
I get a message stating that it must be done thru windows.
But I want to attempt to reinstall the operating system.
Without over-writing the entire disk.
I have plenty of space (2.5 meg) to do it with.
How can I do that?
Keep in mind that the virus partitioned my disk,

This Chipset isn't supported due to missing data sheet.
Your Previous MsDos files were not found
Start up messages - (normal, safe mode, command prompt and command prompt safe mode) gives me this message:
Type name of the command interpreter ie, C:\windows\command.com
The bottom line is I want to save "My Document files" un harmed and re-install windows.
I hope someone can help me.
My back-up machine is a PI, so this is a post of an urgent nature.
While I wait on relpies I will ask a few PDA related posts too!
