Solved: new syntax?
Need this batch translated to new(er)? syntax. Older dos was basically plain text. Find it easier to strike one key to get a lot done. Where is info on this newer syntax.

d:\
cd\windows\shared
copy *.mp3 e:\mymusi~1\john
pause
del *.mp3
pause
del *.wav
pause
del *.wma
pause
d:
cd\windows\nogo
del *.mp3
exit

Thanks for your help.

Newer syntax? What are you talking about? The only "new" syntax I can think of is you can use long filenames if you enclose them in quotes. For instance:

CD "C:\Documents and Settings\John Will\Desktop"

Other than that, I don't see anything that isn't valid batch commands in your example. Oh, the D:\ is not valid, you have to say:

D:
cd \

Changed from win98se to xp. copied that bat to new system. Kept getting "*.bat is not recognized as an int or ext command, operable program or bat file". Must have been that stray "\" . Thanks
