Ask T-Mobile if "Motorola Phone Tools" software and a USB cable will do what you want. I don't own a Razr so I can't tell you for sure, but I have similar software for my Nokia phone.

Settings/Initial Setup then scroll down to Master Reset or Master Clear one of those will clear all the "Crap" as you put it from your phone........Be careful as this will probably return the phone to its factory setting.....it may remove all that has been loaded onto the phone that is not native to the standard phone.

Unlocking does not clear content....unlocking just enables you to insert a Sim card from another carrier.....this is done either via a code you input (from Motorola) or done via cable and software as described.

Do a scan on Google, there seem to be plenty of solutions, not all free. Apparently, this is now legal by a recent decision by the courts.

Yeah, I just gave my razr to a co-worker because I purchased a Motorlola A1200. 3 hours of tinkering and 1 hour on the phone w/ Motorola to load new firmware and my phone was unlocked.

I just purchased a RAZR unlocker on eBay for $3.99. I'm sitting here looking at it, wondering if I should really trust it. I think I'll wait until my wife's contract with T-Mobile is up in March and then try it on her phone. If I nuke it, we can just find another vendor and get a free phone.

I'd like to find a place to pick up a used RAZR cheap and point this thing at it.
