I have a Palm TX if that is any consolation. I would assume the HotSync manager is somewhat the same as well as the Desktop software.

FWIW, I've had to totally uninstall the Palm software and re-install it to wake the units up for several clients. Never did figure out what they did, but the end result was it worked.

With a device that old, there's always the chance that it's a hardware failure.

I finally got the hotsynk to send my contact files to the Palm Vx, but it created three-fold copies of all of my contacts..on custom, I set the desktop to overwrite the handheld hoping it would just re-write...just can't figure out whats up...The only way I guess is to pick each one and delete these 600 records...got any ideas?

There is an app for Palm that allows you to quickly and easily mass delete select contacts, or I should be able to throw together an app that deletes any duplicates (say, based on First/Last/Company).
The app is called Mass Transit.
Try it out: http://www.splatbang.com/palm/mt.html
If it doesn't help, let me know and I will look into writing a tool.
