Error message, printing problems
Please help! I have G3 with a 8.6 OS. I use Illustrator 9, Photoshoppe 5.5, Pagemaker 6.5. I have an Epson Sylus 740 printer. My problem is I can not print. While on the net I get an "testing printer" message, and while in any other program I get an error 192. The error message appears when I try to change the page size in photoshoppe and while trying to print. It also appears in pagemaker while trying to set up printing. I have re-installed the printer software and tried starting my computer with the extensions off. I have no clue how to fix my proplem, please help! Thanks Tammy

Hiya

Don't normally come in here much. Are you using a MAC?

Error 192: I have found some suggestions but it seems to be for MAC's.

For example:

http://www.cit.cornell.edu/helpdesk/...esktop192.html

This occurs when a print job has an error while you are using Desktop Printing. To fix this, restart your computer without extensions (hold down on shift while starting up). Once the computer is started up, the Desktop Printer should appear with an X through it. Double click it, and then trash any files which are in the folder. Then restart your computer again, and you should be able to print.

One person mentions PowerBar and replacing it with DragThing, whatever that is.

Hang on, found this at Epson's website:

What causes an iMac USB -192 Error?

A: The ERROR -192 is caused by conflicts between files and extensions after installing the serial driver from the printer CD, even though the USB driver and iMac Update 1.0 from Apple were installed. To correct this error, do the following:
1. Go to FILE, then FIND.
2. Type in EPSON for the name and click FIND.
3. Highlight and trash all the EPSON items. Confirm that the Apple update has been downloaded and installed correctly (if required).
4. Restart the iMac, empty the trash and install the latest USB driver from the Epson website. The latest EPSON USB driver has been updated to allow hot-swapping.

This should only affect the Stylus COLOR 600, Stylus COLOR 740 and Stylus Photo EX. The Stylus COLOR 440 and Stylus COLOR 640 do not come with the serial driver on the CD

You say its an Epson Stylus 740. I assume no other version, ie 740 special, or 740i.

This is the link for the drivers:

Smile thanks eddie
Eddie,
Thanks for the advice. Yes I am on a Mac. I'll try restarting w/out extentions. I don't think the Epson site will work cause I don't have an Imac
Thanks again, Tam
