Unhappy can't get cd drive to work
Hi everyone,

My friend has a windows 3.1 machine. It has a 32x CD drive, and he has the floppy disk for it. He couldn't get it to work, so I went to have a look, and neither could I. The floppy seems to install ok and it adds lines to autoexec.bat and config.sys, but when windows starts there's no cd drive in file manager. The cd tray opens with the button, so there's power getting to it. Anyone have any suggestions please?

What's the make and model of the CD-ROM drive? Also post the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys contents so we can have a look see to make sure the statements are correct. Did you check how the drive is connected and the jumpers? Tell us how.

cd woe
The drive is a Leoptics - their website, www.leoptics.com, has disappeared. I didn't look inside the case because my friend said he'd had it working before. Next time I'm there I'll copy down the autoexec & config files and post them on here.

It does appears that Leoptics has gone out of business. I hope your friend kept a copy of the drivers as they may be very impossible to find.

There are two cdrom drivers listed at www.driverguide.com for that model

1. cd 1320
2. cd 1240

Only drivers I can find, both say work in win95, worth a shot if you cant find others

1240 http://www2.driverguide.com/files/up...s2412cdrom.zip

1320 http://www2.driverguide.com/files/up...9/Inst1320.exe
