Disconnecting my Palm TX shut down my computer!
I've never had anything like this happen before. I am using a Dell PC and Windows XP.
I've got my synch cable attached to the USB port in the back of my computer. I've also got a powered USB synch cable that I've been using when I'm not at the computer. (I've also got a USB Hub attached to the front of my computer but I've never plugged the TX in there).
Today I attached my Palm TX to the synch cable in the computer and I got one of those yellow messages that said the device wasn't recognized but since the power symbol was there and it was charging I didn't pay any attention to it.
A couple of hours later when I disconnected it my whole computer shut down and I got the big screen that said that I needed to re-start it - I was so panicked that I don't remember the exact words but that it was something damaging to my computer.
I had to use the power strip to shut it down because nothing else worked and fortunately it re-started ok but now I am really concerned about attaching my Palm TX to do a synch.
Is there a diagnostic to run to see if there is something wrong in the device being connected?
What is the best way to proceed so that this doesn't happen another time?
Thanks!

I don't know of any off hand. Might just be Windows hit a glitch with all the USB activity and devices connected. I have never had that happen with my TX. If you can rememer some of the error messages I would just start searching Palm's website for some answers.

I did get an answer at Brighthand.com - they are a really knowledgable Palm site.
They think that the device was re-assigned and I am now checking that out through the device manager.
