Gps Pda
Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding gps pdas.

If I buy one can I be confident that I will be able to find and install detailed maps of Japan on it? Would I have to pay extra for the maps? I would prefer the maps be in English, but I could live with Japanese.

Is the matter more complicated than my question? Do the maps I can use depend on the software that I use and does the software that I can use depend on the pda that I buy?

Specifically, I`m looking at these two:

PHAROS PTL535E 3.5" Pocket PC with GPS and WiFi

ASUS A696 3.5" Ultra Slim GPS PDA
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16858109015

Thanks!

You are approaching the problem backwards. First find out who has maps that are to your liking (check NavTaq and TeleAtlas, the two biggest mapping companies, but there are a few more).

Once you find the types of maps and software that it requires, THEN research as to what PDA is needed to run it.

Thanks for this advice. I would have been up the river without it.

I ended up getting an ipaq pda with a garmin mobile xt bluetooth gps set. It looks like this is the only device that supports the maps that I need in english. So thanks again.
