Many people love Palm (I was once a fanboy) but their recent failures are a big red flag. (I will not recount me personal experiences.) If a Nokia N770, 800, or 810 meets your needs, it may be a better choice. HTC has some nice Windows Mobile devices, though I believe most (all?) are PDA/Phone combos.

I have a Nokia N800 and I love it. It is simply the best portable web browser around since it displays full pages in 800 x 400 resolution. I primarily use the built in Wi-Fi but when I need to connect while on the road I use my T-mobile Dash as a bluetooth edge modem. I've also installed Garnett VM on the device which allows me to run a variety of Palm apps. I just recently purchased a bluetooth GPS receiver and use it for navigation. I only paid $189 from Buy.com a few weeks ago. It's a great device for browsing the web but is limited in it's PDA functionality unless you install 3rd party applications. The device is linux based (open source) so you should have much problems finding applications.

Regards,
Rollin
