v3m razr charger killed battery?
I am wondering the likelyhood that a car charger I use for my ppc6700 (usb) would kill off my girlfriend's v3m razr. I know that the instructions state to only use motorola authentic chargers, but I also know that means more money in their pocket.

The charger that came in the box is a simple 5V, and the battery is a 3.7V. Anyone have any experience with issues?

*** UPDATE ***

I had my girlfriend unplug her battery and then try it, and it is charging fine now. Still, I am wondering if the motorola rep was just blowing smoke to sell motorola specific products or not, thanks!

I don't mess with cheap batteries, chargers, or anything power-related. Replacement cost for the phone is ~$200, and the charger is $30.

We too have a V3m phone. I understand that you should use the car charger for no longer than 30 minutes at a time. Suggest you go to the Motorola site and see what they say for voltage necessary for this model. Also, you might be able to find the correct one on ebay.
