Any more info on that thing?

I can't imagine what it would do, to tell you the truth. There are 1000's of online radio stations that stream from sites, but they are accessible with free software radio receivers, so I don't know what a hardware device would be used for.

Well, I never saw such a thing before, but I guess I can see its possible utility in some circumstances.

But, they do need an internet connection, and from past experience with dial-up software radios, I am pretty sure that they all require a broadband connection since the vast majority of these stations broadcast at speeds higher than dial-up will handle. You really can't get decent sound at 56k (voice is OK, but music suffers). So you'll need some kind of ethernet connection to its location.
