I haven't done this for a long time. I have DOS discs and want to reformat the drive. What is the process?

Do you just run DOS on this machine?
If you are installing Windows 2000 or XP you don't need to format the hard drive before you start the install. You can format the drive during install.

I have a Dell laptop partitioned into Win 98 and XP. I want to reformat the hard drive and run only Xp. I have DOS on floppy and XP on disc but can only run either the floppy or the CD.

You can boot from the XP disc. It will give you the option to remove existing partitions and create new partitions and format those partitions.

Thanks for your interest. I have completely screwed this up. The drive is in two particians as I orginally used partician magic. I was unable to use the xp disk to reformat. the machine came with ME so I was abel to reinstall me on on partician but can't get to the other partician. I wanted to reformat the entire drive and tried using DOS 6 to do this but it only reformated one partician of this 10 gig drive. I would not prefer to haul this to the shop as it would likely cost more to fix than purchasing a new machine. I would prefer to fix it myself for the satisfaction. Appreciate any thoughts you might have. Michael
