Formating Server 2003 Drive
Im trying to format my C: drive on my server.
When i try to format it i get the message, "Cannot format, close all disk managment programs etc"
I tried to format it from Command Prompt and then it said cannot format the disk which command is running from.

Is there a way i can just completely format the drive and install XP on it?

I cant boot from CD either.

Thanks
Tom

If you can't boot from CD,you will need to download the setup
floppies for XP and start the setup from the floppy drive.
www.bootdisk.com
Then you should be able to format from setup.

It makes perfect logical sense that you can't format a drive that has the OS booted. The OS would just die and nothing would happen if that was the case.

Maybe we should try solving your boot from CD problem. Are you sure the bios is set to boot from the CD first? Is this the original XP install CD? Not a copy.
