Question Windows 3.1
I have been given an a '95 Series Notebook Computer' which is very basic, but it runs dos games just fine.

It;s nothing fancy, but I was wondering whether I could put windows 3.1 operating system on it?

The notebook has a 1gig hard drive and 8 mb ram...I know it's seems wacky but it works. It's running MS-Dos 6.2 but doesn't have any word processor etc, which would come in handy when I go camping!

Can anyone please advise?
I have tried the usual download sites & Microsoft website but have come up empty handed. You'd think with all the Windows operating systems going around these days (95,98,98se,me,2000,NT,XP) I could manage to download a free copy little old Windows 3.1...but no go.
Got any ideas where I can get hold of a copy....cheaply!!!
TA in advance.

You did not include your location, but any mid-large size towns shoud be about the same. I see Windows 3.1 installation floppy sets for sale at computer shows in the Detroit metro area all the time. I know of 1 local computer shop that still lists on there web site Win3.1 for sale.

You can still buy Windows 3.1 all over the US--the UK should be the same but I'm not sure. And as for the internet, well it's all over the internet too. You can endlessly search if you really want to, but I very highly doubt you will ever find a copy of it for free... especially since this is Micro$oft we are talking about. However... you should be able to buy it for $15 or less. Probably less, $15 is just a guess. I know for a fact that Windows 59C goes for about $20 to $30, so 3.1 will be cheaper than that. So still not free... but pretty darn close. Otherwise you could see if any of your friends still have it lying around and wouldn't mind giving it up. (I know... it's hard ) As long as no one profits, M$ doesn't lose money and only one copy of it per license is in use at any given time... that should be legal. Hope that helps!
