Angry HELP big problem on p.c.
Well,
I had a P.C with win 3.1 untill someone formatted the hard drive.
We got a C D-Rom drive and tried to insert it as a slave to the C Drive, it did not work.
on cmos there is not a E: drive just floppy a: B: and hard drive D: C:
the A: pins were broken (well just one) and won't run a boot up disk and when we start the computer it says HDD Controller failure.
Can anyone understand this and help meeeee!

Hi elli16

WELCOME to TSG

If the PC was running windows 3.1 it probably isn't good for much else. Have you considered buying a better used one?

Anyway disconnect the new Cdrom it wont work without drivers anyway. Where were the pins broken on the floppy drive, motherboard? You need to get the floppy drive working so you can reload DOS and windows 3.1

You have all the Dos and windows 3.1 disks you need to reload the computer right?

What type of processor is in this and how much memory and hard drive space does it have?

Is B the same type drive as A? If so you should be able to boot from B and load dos from there.

Good luck and if all else fails a system that old can be replaced very reasonably with most likely a better one.
