Hi, I've browsed through the forums for a while trying to find a direct solution to my problems but either a) i'm too lazy to be good at such a thing or b) the issue has not been solved.
This is a very frustrating problem. Untill recently, for about three or four months I had some pesty trojan viruses, they messed up a good deal of files but nothing too important. However, one day in November I couldn't use my computer anymore at all, it came up with the blue screen when trying to start up normally which stated that there has been a Windows Protection Error.
Through the use of another computer at a relative's house I found the solution of going into msconfig and selecting Force Compatibility Mode in the Advanced controls, as well as EMM Exclude A000-FFFF and Disable UDF File System. Now, when using the computer in this state, of course...it's in compatibility mode.
I'm not sure if that is why my computer has the yellow ******* tag of non-working-ness on the Primary and Secondary IDE hard disk controllers, as well as the floppy disk controller, but well, I have that issue as well........meaning I can't use things like my scanner or printer, etc, which is a very big issue, and something I need resolved as soon as possible.
Turning off Compatibility Mode in msconfig results in the Windows Protection Error message again, meaning I can only run Windows in Safe Mode. Well, that's no fun now is it?
I'm running Windows ME. Before this, I never had a single problem other than something my dad caused while playing a game on here, something HP computers seem to have a problem with, but I got all that fixed myself except for the CD-R drive.
If anyone can help me out....that would be insanely appreciated. Thankyou so much in advance.
Happy New Year..
