Question Em.exec error
Hi
A friend of mine has a Packard Hell Inspire P4 with Windows ME.
It has been giving problems error messages etc for a while so they have done a system restore from the Recovery Disks provided with the system. Now an error message appears when the machine is booted "Em.exec has caused an error in Kernel32.dll"
I have searched both this site and the Microsoft Knowledge base to no avail. Anybody with any clues? I would be gratefull

It belongs to Logitech Mouse software, and is not required to load at startup.

Go to Start > Run, type Msconfig, and uncheck EM_EXEC on the Startup tab.

Click OK > reboot, and you'll never see the error again.

Cheers,

While, you are still in MSCONFIG, uncheck and disable everything that does not need to be running in the background. That computer will run a lot better - even if it is a Packard Bell.

Cheers,
I don't see it in my startup group, but it is loading and crashed my Comp several times yesterday. Any other ideas on where it my be? Also what is it supposed to do?

Davec:

If you have Logitech Mouseware installed, you should have Em_exec and/or Logi_Mwx in the MSCONFIG startup tab. They are not listed in the General tab. Uncheck them both, if they are both listed.

Logi.Mwx was there, I unchecked it and Em_exec no longer shows up as a running task. Thank you, problem solved.
