Making a profile the default profile in 2000
I'm making an image and I need all users to have certain settings on the PC. The major thing is I want every user to already have several "trusted sites" entered in IE. I forget how to copy over the settings from a profile into the default user profile. Can you explain?

Thanks

Ok on Friday I searched and searched and today I find it right away with google.com. But I never searched this exact phrase on Friday. "Making a profile the default profile in 2000"

The below is correct right?

For Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000

  1. Click Start, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel window, click System.
  3. In the System Properties dialog box, click the User Profiles tab and select the user’s profile that you want to set as the default user profile.
  4. Click Copy To and under Permitted to use section, click Change.
  5. In the Select User or Group window, select Everyone and then click OK.
  6. Under Copy profile to box in the Copy To window, specify the server name and the share name, and also the name of the profile that you want to copy this profile to in the following format:\\Servername\Sharename\Profilename.
Note The name of the profile will actually be a directory name and the whole directory and its subdirectories and files are the whole profile.
  7. Copy this profile to the Netlogon share and rename the profile to Default User. This will help Windows NT and Windows 2000 to create a new profile based on this profile for a user who does not already have a central or local profile.

yes, on the PC copy over the "default user" profile stored in c:\documents and settings.

Remember to enable the "show hidden files" option in your folder options in windows explorer to see the default profile.

Then you don't need to copy/rename it over and you'll be replacing it directly.
