W2K + System.ced Error
Ok, now I've been reading about this error since I first discovered it on one of my older systems last night.

The only CD that I possess is the "upgrade" W2K, no recovery disks..nada. So, I'm reading that one must download these 4 "recovery" floppies, then use them to boot into the OS. How will doing this change the size of the "hive"? Will this work? Can I not do this via .iso CD? Also, is the recovery disk the same as the "boot disk" that I'm seeing in various articles?

Thank you in advance!

I can point you to recovery floppies for Windows 2000 here:

Bootdisk.Com - Free Windows Bootdisks, Free DOS boot disk

(About 2/5 of the way down the page)

I don't know what is the "hive" you are referring to.

No. The 4 recovery floppies you are referring to are actually the boot disks to start the Windows 2000 installation process. Recovery disks are generally distributed on CD-ROM and contain the operating system. You cannot install Windows with the 4 boot floppies; you must have the recovery CD-ROM that came with the computer. Also, the recovery CD-ROM with prompt you for the product key in order to install Windows, so you will need this as well; the original packaging will have the product key on it.
