O20 - Winlogon Notify: Antiwpa - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\antiwpa.dll  Antiwpa.dll is a prohibited software crack which is used to avoid the Windows’ copy protection. This file to start automatically makes use of the Winlogon Notify key.   I DO own a legitimate copy of windows. I bought and still have everything and have even had my copy validated like everyone else in order to get updates from Microsoft. I have owned it for years! Had it validated multiple times, never ever had a problem. I am beyond freaked out by this! Is this a virus? It's old and only came with Service pack 1, which means I have had to download 2, and now 3, from Microsoft every time I have reformatted my comp over the years. I don't have a clue how to crack anything or where I would even get it from. Help??</div>

Can anyone tell me how I can get this update to successfully install?<br />

So I did a Windows Repair with my Windows XP  disk.  Now the computer will boot up to the Windows XP screen but then  locks up right before it comes to the login menu.  Any suggestions on  what I can do to fix this?</div>

I am currently going to give it to my son, for tampering as he is an avid computer programmer, and is currently working on compiling his own version of arch Linux based on the laptops specifications. When i started up clearing out the laptop of useless junk, i found two partitions on it both containing windows XP. The second partition (10gb partition) contained nothing on it, except for a clean install of XP. Is there any way i can uninstall that copy of XP from that second partition, while keeping the main partition in tact?<br />
<br />
*EDIT* I want to remove the second partition, the 10gb one.<br />

The two partitions as is followed.<br />
<br />
Partition one: C drive: 45gb total space. 11.6gb used<br />
<br />
Partition two: E drive: 10.6 gb total space. 1.1gb used<br />
<br />
Dell inspiron 700m<br />
pentium 4 (centrino mobile) 1.7ghz<br />
512mb ram<br />
54gb HD<br />
intel integrated graphics 945 extreme<br />

This morning, I tried turning on my desktop on in the living room, and was greeted with a black screen. This screen told me that the computer was shut down improperly, and that I had the choice to run in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, restart to last good known configuration, and start windows normally. <br />
<br />
I've tried to use every single option, but all of them load the &quot;Windows XP Loading&quot; screen for a max of 4 seconds, and then goes to a blue screen. The blue screen says:<br />
<br />
&quot;A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.<br />
<br />
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. I this screen appears again, follow these steps:<br />
<br />
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or back up utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. <br />

Of course thinking the worst at first, I call my roomate asking him what the computer was doing this morning, and he told me it was acting weird. Long story short, I got him to admit he was looking at things he shouldn't have been on my computer, and somehow got a virus on it. He said it installed a windows security program, and icons with porn in their names showed up. He said he'd buy a new computer for me, but I have a lot of school documents sitting on this computer, I need back on. We assume it's a virus. <br />

It's a dell computer, but there's no floppy disk slot on the computer, and my laptop (from where I'm typing this) doesn't have a floppy disk slot either.<br />

I put the second DVD in the drive and the PC plays a LabVIEW multi-media presentation. Installation software on the second DVD is ignored. The video software takes priority over the installation software every time. How do I tell XP to ignore the video and to continue with the installation instead. I see the blue welcome screen for somewhere around 3-4 times as long as it was before. Then my desktop load lags - I see my desktop image, just the desktop image with no icons, taskbar, anything, for 2-3 times longer than it was taking before. I guess it really isn't that much time (and extra minute?)....but I  can't find anything to cause this to just acting up now and I am worried I might have some imbedded yuck somewhere. I have run: AVAST several times, Ccleaner, MRUblaster, WiseRegistryCleaner, Cleanup, Auslogics Defrag, and I have ZoneAlarm firewall. I've looked at my startup list, and it all seems to be ok from what I have found online. I already have my HijackThis logfile. Thanks to anyone that can help - I'm totally out of ideas. Win starts and I press &quot;r&quot; and it continues to load and goes straight into loading win xp pro. than gets stuck trying to exmaining 338171 MB Disk 0 at ID 0 on bus 0 etc...I have turned it off and repeated all steps but it gets stuck and does not go into recovery or out of examining. Not that I would know what to do next anyway. Just want to start my computer but no avail. <br />

Just now it did get a screen allow me to choose &quot;r&quot; and I did. But it went straight back to examining disk and got stuck. I never reached the console or got comand to enter chkdsk  etc. <br />

when i used firefox, when i click the download, it gets loaded up in the download page, but when i double click on the loaded program in the download page to run the program, nothing happens at all.<br />
i thought it was a firefox corrupt problem, so i uninstalled firefox and attempted to reinstall it again in internet explorer.<br />
BUT internet explorer wont download any programs too! it just allowed me to run the program--- it loads, den it asks me if i wana run it, i run it--- den it disappears!<br />

I have Windows XP Service Pack 3 on an Internet Explorer 6 within a Power Spec 9201 dual core computer.<br />

When I originally purchased the desktop back in 2006 it had Outlook Express 2006 installed.  I decided not to make it my default email system, preferring Yahoo, instead. I did use it once in a while, but not often. <br />
<br />
About a year ago, it stopped working properly. Whenever I tried to send messages or retrieve mail, I would get a message saying that my POP 3 server hasn't responded in 60 seconds or Error Numbers # 0x800CCC19 or something else. And then long endless lists of failed attempts to connect would basically take over my computer in an endless column on the right side of my screen that went on forever.  I had difficulty getting out of Outlook and even logging off. <br />
<br />
I have pretty decent-and recent- security systems (Norton, AVG, SuperAntispyware, Spyware Blaster) and no problem was found. I try to clean out my loose stuff all the time as well. I finally called Time-Warner, which is my server, and we did a thorough check together. They tried without success to reset my program, but it would always revert back and their own hardware still showed I had a problem. It was finally concluded that the problem was with Outlook 2006 itself or with Windows, and that I should try to work it out with Microsoft. <br />
<br />
I have used the Tech Guy many times for help and have contributed. Windows technical support sites aren't as helpful as they claim to be. And there is a pretty steep fee for assistance through Microsoft. <br />
<br />
In the meantime, I purchased and installed Microsoft Office Standard 2007, which has Outlook, Powerpoint, Word and Excel-all 2007 versions. I have not tried to set up them up yet, especially Outlook 2007, because I am a little afraid that it too, will malfunction.<br />
<br />
1.) Should I try to uninstall Outlook 2005 first? It looks like 2005 still exists when I hit Start on the Desktop; Otherwise, I'm directed to the 2007 version when I search in Programs. <br />
<br />
2.) Would I just use the Add and Remove Progam to remove the 2005 version, or would registry keys remain?<br />
<br />
3.) Should I just leave 2006 version alone and try to install 2007?<br />
<br />
4.) If the problem is Windows itself, which files may be corrupted or compromised?  I saw one help site that suggested I remove a particular file from Outlook 2005,  but I couldn't locate the file on my pc to remove it, or even examine it. Even if I could find it, I'm wondering if that would mess up my pc capabilities, or if it pertains only to 2005. If it is JUST Window XP SP3, then I'm a little concerned.<br />

5.) There are 3 users for this machine, and each person has administrative privileges. <br />

I've checked out other forums and any resources Google provided; the vast majority applied to XP SP2.  I realize that the solutions suggested for SP2 aren't necessarily defunct for SP3, but I wanted to see if anybody else has experienced this in SP3?<br />
<br />
Here are my circumstances:<br />
~20 PCs in a Network<br />
Running Access Program<br />
Windows XP SP3<br />
Multiple Batch Files Scheduled Every Sunday Night<br />
<br />
I currently have several .bat files per PC.  The only one running without a 0x80 Error is the Shutdown.bat (SHUTDOWN -S -F).  Unfortunately, I can't say the same for all the other Batch Files.<br />
<br />
The function of the other batch files is to allow me to perform maintenance on the Access DB after normal work hours.  I have the batch files exit the Access program (TASKKILL), Back Up to NAS (NET USE/MD/XCOPY), Start the Optimization (START /WAIT C:\...), Back Up the DB after the Maintenance (MD/XCOPY), Delete Network Drive (NET USE ...) and finally shutdown (SHUTDOWN -S -F).<br />
<br />
To make sure that the Access Program isn't being used, I've set up a fail-safe: a TASKKILL string right before the Optimization is run.  Due to this, I know that the Optimization isn't failing due to another instance of Access running.<br />
<br />
Also, another thing: prior to the 0x80 Error occurring, I scheduled all these batch files to run on a Wednesday night.  The following morning, I checked to make sure that the BATCH files ran.  The Access DB was significantly smaller and I <i>think</i> there was a 0x0 result in the Scheduled Tasks window; this confirms that my strings are fine.  Now I'm just trying to figure out what's causing the 0x80 error.<br />

I think this won't apply to my circumstances, as the batch files ran without any changes to the HID-Settings.  I also don't want to change the HID-Settings at all, for two other reasons: I hate changing settings and I hate doing the same change to 20 computers.<br />

Anyway, I realize that this dead horse has been kicked enough during the life-span of SP2 but I'd like to give it a good kick during SP3 :D</div>

Also WMM is running unbeleivably slow, to import a video can take 10 minutes or open a saved project can take 20 minutes<br />
I downloaded xvid codec &gt;&gt;  Xvid-1.2.2-07062009.exe but this has not resolved the problem.<br />
I was going to uninstall and reinstall this program but could not find it in Add /Remove programs?<br />
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.<br />

I use Thunderbird as my e-mail client and the other day it stopped letting me send e-mail. I could receive just fine but was unable to send at all. I tried everthing I could think of to get it to work but no dice. I ended up doing a disk to disk image from a PC that is working correctly but the issue did not go away. So I thought I would setup my account in Outlook Express and guess what, the same exact thing happened. After much research and trial and error I finally found that when I stopped the IPSEC service I could send just fine with either e-mail client. Does anyone know if this would be the result of a recent windows update or if there is anything I can try to fix it?<br />

FYI, we use an Exchange server as our mail server.</div>

The resulting CHM file opens on my desktop and passes the verification tests we use. BUT... when I plop the new file into the folder with the software application that calls it, and then click the Help button on the appropriate dialog, nothing happens. And I mean, nothing! All other help files called from the software do open, including the original version of this CHM file.<br />

I even recreated it outside of RoboHelp using only the HTML Help Workshop app, but have the same results. I also made sure the window name, title bar, and default help topic are the same as the old CHM, just in case the software code was calling the help by a specific item or topic. <br />
 <br />
Does anyone out there have an inkling of a clue as to what I should look for next?<br />
 <br />
I'm running Windows XP, SP2, with Adobe's Technical Communications Suite v1 (RoboHelp v7, FrameMaker 8, etc.).</div>

I have Windows XP. At some point I downloaded the search indexer because I thought it was an upgrade to the default search program. Boy was I wrong. This program slows down my computer to the point where I can't even work anymore.<br />
 <br />
When I open my task manager, I can end task for searchindexer.exe (at which point searchfilterhost.exe and searchprotocolhost.exe also close) but 10 minutes later, they all reappear in my task manager again and my system is slow. (as soon as I end the task, my computer speeds up)<br />
 <br />
I do not have Windows Desktop Search or any kind of search program in my Add/Remove Programs in my control panel, so that option is out.<br />
 <br />
I found someone online that provided instructions for Windows XP .. he said go to Control Panel/ Administrative Tools/ Services ... double click on Indexing Service ... click on Stop running and then Disable at startup. Well I did that months ago .. and when I open the Indexing Service it shows that it's already stopped and it's already disabled!<br />
 <br />

i tried running virus scans adaware scans and spybot scans but it still seems to happen<br />
<br />
ive been running the task manager looking for causes and the only thing that is getting me is there is this rundll.exe process that comes and goes very quickly<br />
and it happens about every 5 to 10 min which is about when the games minimize<br />
so what ever is causing that rundll is probably causing that problem<br />
<br />
i just cant  figure out what it is tho</div>

I need to format my hard drive and re install Windows XP Home Edition, but I have lost my CD, so I have borrowed one from a mate (all legal, legit purchase).  Although I need to check whether it will be legal for me to use the serial number I am currently using on the new install.  I think that it should be ok, since the installation currently using that serial will be wiped, but I just want to check.  Also, will it through me any problems regarding activation issues or update issues?<br />

After looking at the code, its trying to look at the cd drive (which the util isn't on..) so I opened up a cmd window and typed in &quot;rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %CD_Drive%\Hotkey for Display Devices\English\Tfnf5Wxp.inf &gt;nul&quot; but with the up 2 date location of where the inf file is..<br />

When i log onto the pc, i still get the message <br />

The fn keys also don't work because of this. Any help would be grateful!!<br />

I&quot;m going to move the spindle to a new system and just run Windows 7.  I want to have the old system just boot XP.  I booted Windows 7 and did an xcopy of the &quot;d&quot; partition to a new hard drive on which I created and formatted a &quot;C&quot; partition for XP.  I also copied ntldr and ntdetect.com and boot.ini and ntoskrnl.exe from the XP CD.<br />

SO, in theory I SHOULD (maybe?) have a bootable XP on a new disk.  When I boot it goes through the BIOS, gets to the black screen, then the cursor starts at the top and goes to the bottom of the screen where it sits and the system makes a clicking noise.......  AGAIN, this is a &quot;copy&quot; of an XP partition that boots perfectly.....<br />

What do I need to do to get this thing to boot?  'Cause I need to preserve the content of the partition so I don't want to do a full install.</div>

However, I can use other programs if I shortcut their icons from E:\ such as old games even though I don't have any C:\ directories anymore, the thing is of course that printers don't have icons and you just use them. So, can I use the printer with a directory only on my E (portable) drive without the need to re-install it?</div>
