I have a piece of equipment that is remote to my location, ie. a DVR recording CCTV images at my mother's house which I can access over the internet. It sometimes stops responding over the internet but is working fine locally. I wish to know if anyone is aware of any way of 'polling' the DVR automatically. I have sussed out what to do at the local end. I will basically have a piece of equipment that will receive these 'polls' and if it does not receive them then it will automatically reboot the DVR. It is the receiving the polls bit that I am struggling with. Any ideas? TIA.

I have a 91 olds cutlass ciera. the engine keeps stalling when it warm. The first time it stalled my mom was driving. it quit in the parking lot of her friends apartment. the car would not restart. after letting it sit for awhile it restarted only to stall a minute later. it restarted right away that time. The next day we were both in the car it stalled in the shopping market parking lot. It restarted right away that time. later that day it almost stalled but my mom was accelerating away from a stop sign the extra fuel prevented it from stalling but you could feel the car jump. took it into a shop.

they replaced the M.A.T. sensor which was reading -4 degrees outside.$202 dollars along with a rusty coolant hose. did not stall the for a few days afterward's but now its back to doing it. its not has bad but still the sensor did not fix the problem. and then yesterday after driving around short distance we overshot our driveway put the car in reverse then forward the front wheels are just touching the driveway the engine quits. Will not fire. my mom puts it in reverse and cost out of the driveway somewhat crooked in the street. after a couple minutes I tell mom to put in in neutral and i will push it to the curb so at least its straght.

She gives the gas pedal a couple pumps and the car starts. what could be the problem. check engine light did not come on. repair shop said they reset it. i took it back to the shop before all this and they said the oh the gas tank is rusty the fuel lines are rusty. the gas pressure while good is going up and down and that the coil "may" be failing. they wanted $500 to replace the tank and pump. they didn't check the engine for vacuum leaks as that can cause faulty fuel readings also.I don't have money to get a 2nd opinion right now sense all shops want to charge to look at it sense they would have to diagnose it. any ideas.

I have two vehicles both of which have a remote lock/unlock. My car's remote will work from nearly half a mile away. :D I've been amazed at how far away it will still work, and it works even through walls. It's great because when I lock it, it honks the horn. So when I come out of a store and cannot remember where the car is, I make it honk at me until I find it. :D I can pop the trunk from inside the store when the guy in the feed store goes out to load my bags of feed.

Now, my other vehicle, a Suburban, also has a remote, but this thing has a working distance of about three inches. I have to get RIGHT ON TOP of the door, and it has to be the DRIVER'S door, in order for it to work. Now, if I have to stand that close and hold the remote that close, I might as well use the key! :p I've replaced the batter in the remote, but that did not make any difference.

Is there something inside the Suburban that might also need replacing?

Hello all, What causes a garage door opener to stall out when opening or closing ? I've maxed out the limit switches and if you hold the controller button at the wall and don't release it, it will open and close but a touch and release of the control allows the motor to stall. It's a new home for us and some of the guide wheels were broken but I replaced them to make the tracking system at the door smooth and operational but the motor still stalls without continuously pressing the button. Any help for me ? Thanks !

At first when you would start it the unit would lurch like the treadmill wants to shoot out and start too fast. I would get the E-1 error message and the unit would stop. Supposed to be an optical sensor issue. Now it does it most times even after I get it up and running.

Anybody have a clue where this adjustment is? I would like to get it working and the guy I bought it from has not called back and the factory said to contact the dealer first.

I've got an old Sony Trinitron TV, and a couple of months ago the TV blew and since then it doesn' turn on. I called a mechanic over and he said to me that the 'transformers' blown and to replace it, it will cost at most £200.

After serious thought, I came to the conclusion that there is no point spending £200 when i can put another 100/150 and buy a new TV.

However, at the moment i am stuck with a massive TV in my living room and don't know what to do with it. Either I can use the traditional method by throwing it outside the house and wait for a pleasant citizen to take it of my hands, advertise it on something like Gumtree hoping someone will come and pick it up (and pay a small fee), OR take apart the TV and sell the parts individually (if it is worth it) would anyone know if there is any point in doing it? Or am i just wasting my time?

Cheers Guys!! :)

I purchased a (cheap) greenhouse and am leveling a spot with dirt to place it between my fenced garden and the drain field on sloped ground (about a foot and a half slope away from the greenhouse.) I expect to have several questions for ideas as I progress making this between now and next spring.
First question- The fill I intend to use for the greenhouse floor will be gravel/sod I salvaged when my driveway was regarded and re-graveled. I would like to separate that sod and dirt out somehow before I place it. It takes about 40 cubic feet (2 tons) of gravel to fill the floor area.
I appreciate suggestions from anyone who has done anything similar-or any ideas from anyone. I do have a small cement mixer available-so flooding the lighter materials out is one possibility but its really time consuming with that volume.

I have a 10 in sub woofer and amp from my car that I would loveee to use in my dorm room. Unfortunately, I am COMPLETELY electronically un-savvy, so I don't even know where to start.

I was hoping to connect the system to my laptop, if thats possible. But i would also be able to buy a stereo if that was the only option. I want to spend as little as possible on this, you know how college goes...

A step by step answer would be AMAZING as I am clueless, but any info helps.

Thanks so much everyone!

I was thinking something like doing this with my service provider or even better a line that goes to my computer or even better than that a wireless recording from my router.

Been getting dementing phone calls from Mr.X for about a year now ,they've been getting more frequent and desperate seeing how it's been summer for awhile and my dogs have been out being a loud mouths or at least one of them. Did i mention these phones calls always have something to do with my dogs getting shot!!!

made police reports and they don't work
