This MP3 player has a problem with the jack for headphones/USB charger. You would have to hold the cord at an angle with pressure in order to hear stereo. I just want to know if anyone knows how to open it, because it's probably something that needs to be soldered. I see no screws anywhere. It looks like prying it open may be the way, but gently trying already, it seems like it wasn't wanting to open that way. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What happens if you try and install and run an OS on a tape drive?

I know it shouldn't be done because of how inefficient these are for anything but backup, but the thought still tempts me. I can't seem to find any examples of this being done online.

I guess the first question, is it even possible to get the os to boot from tape in the first place?

Has anyone a tape to spare in the name of science?

Hi Guys,

I have recently fed my sons xbox 360 through his computer monitor but he has a Dell inspiron 530s with a sub woofer and therefore I cannot use the speakers as the xbox cable has a red and white jack leads as an attachment and the speakers go to the subwoofer via a vga cable. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this or do I have to buy seperate speakers and if so does anyone know any good ones
Many Thanks,
After I disconnected the S-Video cable, my laptop(screen) will not return to the original. All of the desktop icons are still large and so are the fonts when I use windows. In the past, this issue would be adjusted automatically. but this time it did not. Can I solve this problem manually so I have my default settings again? I did restart the laptop a couple times with no results. Thanks

Recently, I have had several issues with my console. As I start it up, it makes a "vreeet veerrrt" and another sound before it gets to the dashboard. Also, it has started it make a single beep during startup. During games, the drive may make a weird noise like a car not idling smoothly in addition to the normal whirring of the console. I'm a little worried as I have about 10 days left on the warranty and would like to resolve this before the warranty runs out.

So my questions are:
Are these noises normal operating noises?
Should I return the console or is it more likely to end up broken if I send it in?
Can you buy an extended warranty from Microsoft if your original one has expired? If so, how?

Thanks for any help.

How to increase drive size in a RAID 1 array

I have a Windows Server 2003 machine with an Intel Entry Server Board 5875WP1-E motherboard. I have two 112 GB drives setup in a Raid 1 array (mirrored) using the Fastbuild Utility 2.01 from Promise Technology. The drives are partitioned to a 20 GB C: (system) drive and a 92 GB D: (data) drive.

The D: partition is running out of space. I want to replace both drives with two 1 TB drives and have the free space added to the current D: partition.

I replaced one of the old drives with a new one, started and ran the Fastbuild utility to re-build the mirror to the new drive. Then I replaced the other old drive with the other new one and rebuilt the array again. At this point the system boots and sees the array as identical to the original array at 112 GB in size. I disconnected one of the new drives and deleted the array to try to boot the system from the other new drive as a stand alone drive but got an error message along the lines of please replace the boot disk.
To get the system bootable, I re-connected the 2nd drive, entered Fastbuild and rebuilt the array back to the 1st drive.

I'm trying to get this all planned out before I try again. I've been reading up and the best I understand is I need to do this:
Disconnect one of the drives for use as a backup if needed.
Startup and enter Fastbuild and delete the array.
Enter BIOS and disable RAID in order for the system to boot from the stand alone drive (I would love if someone could verify this step).
Boot up to Windows and run a 3rd party utility (Easus) to adjust the drive partitions the way I want them.
If all is well with the first drive and boots up at this point, shut down and reconnect the 2nd drive.
Startup and delete the 2nd drive partitions (maybe not necessary)? Restart and re-enable RAID in the BIOS. Enter Fastbuild and create a new array to the 2nd drive.

I'm open to any suggestions but would love to hear from anyone that has successfully done this.

Thank you!
Marty

Hi

I'm a complete novice so please forgive me if this is an obvious question. I have an old analog tv which is connected to a Grundig freeview box. The tv has one scart socket and no hdmi sockets. I wanted to connect a wii fit to the tv but didn't want to disconnect the freeview box (as it it loses its signal when I do this ) so bought a Logik 5 in 1 multi scart adaptor.

When I switch on the wii box the wii image comes up on the tv screen BUT the sound I get is the sound of what ever tv programme is on and not the sound from the wii box.

Having read this site I see people have recommended scart splitter with selector knobs for people who are having problems with scart adaptors. I don't know what this is or what the knobs do. Is this what I need?

Are some makes of adaptors better than others? If this is not the answer could someone please suggest an answer. I am on a pension - so nothing too expensive please.

Many thanks for any advice
A friend of mine came round and managed to fix the problem within seconds by doing something with the remote.
The other day however I changed the room which the TV was in and now it's doing the blue screen thing again however this time when I had the same friend look at it he said it was a darker blue than last time and when he tried the same thing as before it didn't work.
I've tried playing around with the options, using new VGA cables and tried connecting a different laptop but it still doesn't seem to work. Any ideas???
Also, some posts said you could not download Google Maps on a Verizon BB Curve 8330, but I seemed to have no problems.

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there was a way to have your TV display whatever is on your iPod Touch. After some research, I found some cables that supposedly allow you to do it, but it seemed like they could only be used for certain kinds of things on your iPod (ie: video playback, etc). Are there any sort of cables that will display what's on your iPod no matter what?

Here's why I want to use them, which could give you some more info on the cables I need. I want to watch NBA league pass, but the $150 price is a little out of my range. However, you can buy a $40 app for your iPod/iPhone which does the same thing, with less features. If I can just connect that to my TV, I'd be golden.

Thanks for your help.

When you run the Norton Backup feature, does the backup also capture the CMOS and BIOS settings?

The reason I ask is because I plan on flaching my BIOS with the most recent update and I also want to replace the CMOS battery (5 yrs. old) and I'm afraid I might lose the settings.

If the answer is no, then does anyone know of a good utility that will copy the CMOS and BIOS setting so you can restore them if you do encounter an error?

Thanks for any help you can provide,

I went out and bought a new DVD recorder/player today since my old one broke down irrepairably, and have just been setting it all up and hooking it up. I've managed to hook it up to my tv and my Sky+ box - so if I want to record a programme to watch later, I can record from the tv (all freeview channels) or the Sky cable feed (so from all the channels I paid for through cable connection).

However, when I set the DVD recorder/player so that it is looking at whatever the Sky+ box is showing, I get the picture feed just fine, but I'm not getting any sound. If I switch it so it is looking at the tv (freeview channels) I get picture and sound just fine. I don't know where I am going wrong. On the back of the tv there is an Audio Output box with a red port and a white port - there is exactly the same on the back of the Sky+ box and the DVD recorder/player. No yellow port and no port on any of the three devices listed as Audio Input. I tried hooking up audio cables into the red and white ports in various combinations (DVD to tv, tv to Sky box, Sky box to DVD) and nothing worked.

How do I get the audio from my Sky+ box programmes to come through on my DVD recorder when I am looking at the Sky feed? Because right now if I wanted to record on DVD a programme on Sky, it records the pictures but no audio. When I am watching Sky normally, not through the DVD player, the sound is just fine, and as I mentioned before watching the freeview tv feed through the DVD player I can hear the sound.

Hi.

This is quite frustrating.

When I connect my iPod Touch to my laptop computer (running Windows XP) I get a prompt saying that a camera has been connected and it asks me what to do.
Now I've been Googling and normally others with this problem don't have iTunes recognize their iPod. However, for me, iTunes does recognize my iPod and allows me to put music, videos and what not onto it, like you should be able to.
But my problem is that I cannot use a third-party program to get any music off of it.

I have uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime and then reinstalled them with no luck.
I have updated the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver, and also reinstalled it with no luck.
I really don't know what else to do.

This only seemed to happen when I took a snapshot of my iPod screen (with the iPod itself).

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hey. I just recently encountered a probem with my 5-day old computer which is really worrying me. At first, when I bought it, everything was fine until around the third day when the computer couldn't detect the DVD reader. At the startup screen, the part where it usually showed my DVD drive was showing some repeated alphabets which obviously isn't my DVD reader. And because of that, the computer couldn't start in the sense that it didn't start Windows but just hanged at the startup screen of the computer(BIOS, I think-where the computer shows what drives and components are connected). The only way out of this was to spam my DVD reader's open/close button and hope that the computer could detect it. So then, it actually worked for quite a number of times. I tried to change my computer's boot order in the BIOS. I changed the first boot device from the DVD drive to the HDD but nothing worked so I left it. Then, then next day, the computer didn't even detect the DVD reader but Windows could start. When I go to My Computer, it only shows my hard disk but not my DVD drive. So I thought, nevermind first. Since I don't need to use it now. So I started the game Crysis and played for around 10 mins before saving my game and putting the computer into sleep mode. Around an hour later, I started my computer again and ran another game called Section 8. While playing, the computer suddenly rebooted but my monitor didn't display anything. It was just blank even though it was turned on. I tried to restart the computer a few times but nothing happend. Normally, when I turn on the computer, a beep could be heard but now, nothing. A friend suggested that it overheated so I left it off cooling down in front of a full blast fan. An hour later, I tried to turn it on. But, no difference at all. The monitor didn't display anything but the computer was running. I desperately need help.

my computer specs:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 @ 2.20GHz
2.0GB RAM DDR2
nVidia GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3
Windows 7 Ultimate

Ok so I went to burn a DVD the other day with MKV the and my computer shutdown. So I started it back up and thought nothing of it and started to go on the internet and it shutdown again, it did this 3 times until it wouldn't even turn on anymore. I hit the power up button and it would start to power up and then shut off in about 3 seconds. Anyway, I took the fan out and cleaned it, tried to start it up, no go. So then I took the rest of it apart to see if anything was wrong about 10 times and it still wouldn't start. I finally saw these 4 long chips back to back in the thing, and they each had a white lever on each end of each chip as if to hold it in, I pressed 2 down, The one's on both ends of 1 chip, but didn't remove the chip, I pressed the power up button and the computer started up. Once i was on I pushed the chip holder things back down and it was still ok, so i don't know if that's what made it start or if my computer just decided to start up at that time as a fluke. Anyway, I don't know when this thing is going to shut down again, so I wanted to ask if anybody knew what the heck is wrong with my computer and why it keeps shutting down? thanks

I have an odd problem with my cordless phone. I talked to AT&T about it but all they could tell me was that it wasn't due to the line being bad.

Periodically my handset will "light up" (keypad/call ed info area/etc.) but not the "ringer light".

There is no call coming in when this happens, but it always distracts me and makes me think a call may be coming. It disappears after 30 seconds.

1. Is this caused by picking up a neighbor's cordless signal? If not, why?

2. Is it fixable?

My current phone is a model GE 28851 DECT 6.0, but it has happened with two other models of cordless phones as well. I can live with it, but it'd be nice to at least know why it's happening.

Thanks

It all looks fine to me but as I am thinking of upgrading to the new IQ2, just interested to see if it is worthwhile insofar as the resolution goes and whether or not I would see a dramatic improvement in picturte quality?

So my Acer tower has a couple HDMI outs and I have it docked in my multimedia cabinet with my receiver. The only way I've played any audio signals from my comp is via a simple phono jack that converts to a Left and Right AV audio connection. This appears to only play back through my front left speaker and doesn't put out great sound. My receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs. Is there a way around this? I have a open optical input, but I don't think there is a simple converting cord for this.

I really need help! i'd get it repaired, but i'm now unemployed. t.v. is all i'v had lately.
anyway, went to turn on my wd-65733 mits. dlp and just got the green flashing light. after searching online for 40+ hours i have found that 1). my unit is not in the searies that has capacitor problems, and 2). the common problem of a faulty temp sensor/ connector is also not the problem.
what is happening is just the green light. i can pull codes, only 12 of course. none of the cooling fans come on at all, and there is no sound of anything going on except for the "click " when you do a system reset.
about 6 or 7 months ago this happened i think twice on a month. i had to reset 3 or 4 times then it was fine.
any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
