so my gaming pc i just got has a weird problem... as soon as the cpu hits 64 degrees celcius it shut my whole computer down... i am dumb when it comes to computer so ill try and tell you what it has..
8 gigs of ram
amd phenom quad core processor
asus mother board
nvidia 550 ti cyclone 2
and i think that it.... please help if you can i have researched this for days and i dont know what to do anymore... thanks

Howdy,

Question is why is your CPU going to 64C and how do you know that is the temp?

There is a setting maybe in Bios that is set that will turn off the PC and a certain temp.

Is this a new PC and who build it?

i know that is the temp because i watch it on speed fan program.. and i dont know why... that why im here. and i bought it used so i have no clue.

Download and install hwmonitor
and see what the temps etc are. Download the 1.19 setup, english on the right-hand side.
....take a reading when not running the game or programs CPU(core) and GPU Video card and post them. (Just a screenshot of results is fine)

My guess is that the PC heatsink and inside the PC has dust buildup. I would suggest cleaning the Heatsink of dust and the PC.

Also check all fans are clean and running.

Not sure what cooling system is on the CPU but it may need the thermal paste replacing.

ok ill get those real quick... i cleaned the pc out when i first got it and now it is running about 10 degrees cooler so it helped a little

OK...then the Thermal paste on the Heatsink may have dried out and needs replacing. not a big job and Arctic Silver paste is cheap and very good. I would get on with that as running the CPU that warm for is not good for it.

i appreciate all the help
but at idle it runs around 30c and under load sometimes it stays around 58 and on some other games it creeps to 64 and shuts down

Like I said check the thermal paste on CPU heatsink, replace the paste and then check the temps.

well a little update... i went to bestbuy today and bought some thermal paste,they only had dynex so i picked it up... i came home and pulled my cooler off and to my suprise there was no thermal paste on it... everything was still shiny and clean... i put the thermal paste on and the hottest it has got now is 39c is that acceptable?
