Need help getting an older racing game to work on Windows 7
Hey everyone. I haven't played this game since I had Windows 98. It is NHRA Drag Racing Main Event. It says its compatible with 95, 98, ME. I couldn't get it to play on my XP machine and just gave up on it. It seems to do the same thing on 7 as it did on XP. I can install it and it seems to go in normally. It will install by default in the Program Files(x86) folder. When I try to play it, it will load but all I see is a black screen. I can hear it running but see no picture. I have tried changing the resolution and all compatibility combinations. I tried running it as admin. I tried installing it as admin. I must be missing something or it is one of those games that you just can't play on Windows 7. Any ideas? or do I just forget it. It was a cool game and I don't care how good the graphics are, I just want it to run if it's possible. Thanks

If you couldn't play it on XP, you won't be able to play it on 7. The game specs state it's for Win 95, 98 & ME. The game is still available from Amazon:

Have you tried changing the desktop to 16bit color?

Right click on desktop >
click Screen resolution >
click Advanced settings >
click Monitor tab >
change Colors from 32 bit to 16 bit >
click Ok

Still the same Tom. The game starts and runs in XP and 7, I just get a black screen but can hear the sounds normally. It will not run when I change the compatibility to 98 or 95. It just goes back to desktop. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse but I thought if it ran I had a chance of making it work. Thanks, Chris
