Wii GH3 starting error
My copy of GH3 for the Wii has recently stopped working. Specifically, it works when I'm selecting the game from the menu, and the initial disclaimer (or whatever) shows up fine.
Then the screen turns red, and it says it can not read the disk.
When I eject the disk, it recognizes that I have removed the Guitar Hero disk, and says to insert it. When I clean it/whatever, the screen returns to "cannot read disk".
I'm completely baffled.

Scratches: barely any
Dents: none to speak of
Warps: none visible
Cracks: nope

It started like this. I was going over to a friends house with my brother. He grabbed both the guitar and the disk (in the case, of course).
We arrived at his house, and his Wii had the error described above. His Wii is faulty, and doesn't play disks half the time anyway.
So we got home, put it in, and... theres that error again.

It says in the manual that your not supposed to mark / put stickers on a disk anywhere. It happens that a couple of weeks ago I put a very small little symbol on the very top of the disk (see avitar), with a permanent marker (post prom = busy. I wanted to identify my stuff). I figured, since its the top of the disk, whats there to worry about.
And sure enough the disk worked fine since then, until today.

Incidentally, on a similar trip to this friends house, the wammy bar broke. I can not recall any physical damage to the controller at any time during the trip either way (we ride bikes, it was on my back)

So, what do you guys think the problems are, and how do I go about fixing them (unless I can get a replacement for the whole pack, forget the wammy bar thing, it isn't that big of a deal)

Look around for one of those CD scratch repair kits and give one or two of them a try. If that doesn't work, there's really nothing you can do. It could also be the actual reader in the Wii, but that is unlikely considering how you tried it on two Wii's.

ok well if ur disk isnt calibrated right you can buy a calibarator, or are u putting it in on the correct side? I was constantly checking my disks for scrathes but then i realized i was putting it in on the wrong side. aslo how long have you had it? if there really isnt ANYTHING wrong with it that you can see or could have done, take it back to the storem and show them u did nothing wrong, and they should give u a new one. now im a kid but ive done it many times just have on ur cutest little smile haha

unfortunately... you probably wont be able to return it as it has been written on... bugga... ( i have never thought about that myself until now hahaha) maybe you could get on the phone to Nintendo or (Activision?) do all you other games work alright? if not it may be a problem with your Wii...

I've had a problem with my Wii before, had to get it fixed. But for now, other games work on it, so I don't think thats the problem.
You may be right about not returning it, but I think I found the problem.
It has a few seemingly minor scratches on it, but they are circular scratches that I noticed were really quite long when I stopped to think about it. Those are the worst kind of scratches, and there are two or three of them.
Thats about all I can think of, really. Nothing else fits, and this does work, unfortunately. My only option now is to get it repaired and see what happens then.

there are plenty of way to remove scratches from discs (light scratches mind you) theres an article in Wikihow, basically it uses light abrasives like toothpaste or brasso, now when you cleaning the disc make sure you wipe with a soft cloth from the inside of the disc to the out. Not a round in circles! that will scratch it

to remove scratches, try takeing it to a movie rental place and kindly ask them to buff out your scratches. they have a machine, and this is how they fix thier dvds.

Thought this topic was dead. Ya I tried that, didn't work. I brought in a few others too. Only one of all the disks I brought in worked. The others didn't even look like I did anything to them.
