Oblivion encountered a problem error "sigh"
i recently bought oblivion and it is working fine, no problems at all, rather fast on low detail and it is running smoothly...except.... whenever i exit the game it quits back to desktop then gives me an error saying it has encountered an error and needs to close... luckily its not causing any harm or anything... but why is it doing it in the first place? it takes longer for it to close than it does to load the whole game, it doesn't happen all the time but more often than not, it seems there are more than one problem causing this as the technical details are different most of the time, i will get a screenshot when i can and post it later

Hm..

Do you have a lot of mods installed? Try starting a new game with no mods and exiting then. If you only have a few of them, try to pinpoint the main cause.

The other alternative is to use the task manager to quit out from now on.

nope, no mods at all, i wanted it to run on performance rather than speed so the graphics are down to low, apparently alt+tabbing out of the game can cause instabilities and thats the last thing i want

Oh yeah. The game can get horrifyingly unstable if you alt-tab out of it fullscreen, especially if you use a different resolution than what your monitor supports.

Reinstalling might help. You can also try making sure the drivers for your graphics card are updated. Maybe you don't have the latest DirectX?

You can also see if your graphics card is supported on the list that's on the FAQ:
http://www.elderscrolls.com/games/oblivion_faq.htm

And I remember seeing a list of cards that don't work with Oblivion, I'll look for that list when I have time later today.

you know the drivers may not be updated as the computer has not been on the net, as for directx its all up to date, as for the supported cards its on the list, made sure of that before i bought the game, i really could not be scr...bothered... reinstalling... i know sounds lazy but... i really dont have time to wait for an hour or so, plus defragmenting again, it seems to be alright if i quit to the main menu before exiting the game straight from gameplay.... well im too tired to think right now...
