The Sims 1 Complete Collection
The Sims Complete Collection does not start properly with my Windows Vista Home Premium computer. I've done all that I can, so now the EA logo sound like the one in battlefield 2142 plays, but then the screen stays black. I really have no idea what is wrong with the game. When I minimize it and maximize it again, the game works, but my mouse disappears in certain dialogs when I have done that. For instance, certain parts of the create-a-sim dialog and the call a neighbor dialog in its entirety have no cursor. I'd really appreciate somebody here to shed some light on my situation.

Note: The game works fine in safe mode, but there is no sound, which is almost as bad as not having a mouse.

thanks,
rothn

The original Sims game is pretty old. You may need to run it in compatibility mode.

You can learn about that here:

Do you really think that I didn't?
I did run the game in compatibility mode. I used all of the combination of compatibility settings; I even re-installed DirectX. I tried everything I could think of before I came to you.

Hey, are you using Windows Vista! Don't be a fool, most games will not work on Windows Vista because it is such a newer version than most computer models. I highly recommend you check everything, including "The Sims Complete Collection" manual. If you are having more issues, contact me and I'll probably be in assistance.
