Unhappy Oblivion Crash! Blue Screen of Death!
At first I thought it was coincidence. However, it has happened multiple times, and onyl while I have been playing Oblivion. The game will lag a bit, then suddenly bring a Blue Screen of Death with Crash dump and all that jazz. But the specific file causing the error is this:
http://www.runscanner.net/fileinfo/uts_serd.sys.html
Anybody have any idea what's going on???

Thanks a mil!
-Jac

This is hard to say with oblivion, it also depends on what machine your using it on, if your using your vista computer there are number of possibilities.. i know for a fact that if your running any sort of media center fro some reason all media controllers such as IR remotes and volume controllers tend to have adverse effects on your game just by being hooked up... so if that is the case then i would suggest disconnection all media controllers while your playing... however, if your running it on your XP system, which i would be assuming you were as it has less issues with XP we need more info...

Does this happen after playing the game for an hour or two?

and do you have Mods installed? if so can you list them?

I'm on Vista (you can click the computer icon next to my username for some specs). I don't have any mods. This usually happens after about an hour of play. And what exactly are Media Controllers? Plugins or devices or what?

And lastly, that plugin that it says is causing the error:

I'm pretty sure it's my cricket mobile broadband card. But I don't know how or why that would have an effect on it.

Ok, well this is most likely due to what i was talking about before then, various media controllers and other devices, when i say media controllers i mean like a remote for your computer for to controll DVD playback and music and whatnot... Oblivion has a bad history with dealing with outside devices on Vista that should have no effct on your game but for some odd reason do... i would suggest if possible to remove your cricket card while you play, and disconnecting any special USB connections that are not being used expecually if they have nferred censors on them, as these cause themost problems....

keep in mind that oblivion is very resource intensive, and has a long wrap sheet of glitches...

if the problem still exist after this, you may want to look into the 'Oblivion Script Extender' and 'The Nearly Perfect FPS optimizer' as it has the ability to clean the oblivion cache every few loading frames which would greatly reduce this problem by freeing up resources..

hope this info helps... and you can find information on the script extender and the FPS optimizer here: Oblivion Script Extender & FPS Optimizer

I set those both up, so I'll see if that helps. If I play a few more times and don't have any crashes, this thread will be SOLVED.
