CoD 4 punkbuster
So I've tried a lot of things, reinstalled cod4, reinstalled Punkbuster (numerous times).

But when I test services, It freezes:

Starting PunkBuster Service Tests (v0.987) (07/04/09 13:32:48)
Checking OS
Windows NT 6.0 (build 6001, Service Pack 1) 32-bit
Checking PnkBstrA service status RUNNING
Checking PnkBstrA Version OK (1032)
Extracting "PnkBstrB.exe" to:
"C:\Users\Ruud\AppData\Roaming\PnkBstrB.exe"
OK
Checking firewall settings OFF
Checking if PnkBstrB is running NOT RUNNING
Getting port for PnkBstrA OK (44301)
Opening socket for packet send

It just doesnt go any further.
With my firewall off, it also freezes.
I have Panda Global Protection as anti-virus software.

What do I need to do? I tried about everything.

ps. sorry if this has been asked before, but it just freezes where other people havent got any problems

To run PnkBstrB, go into task manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) and go Processes tab. Go File > New Task (Run). Type this in: PnkBstrB.exe

your computer will freeze (So i recall from past experiences) for a second or two, and it will load. Then you can play online.

If you want to make the service automatically run on startup, do the following:

1. Go Start > Computer (Right Click) > Manage
2. Go to Services and Applications tab and go Services
3. Find PnkBstrB and double click on it.
4. Make sure startup type is Automatic, and make sure it's running.
5. Reboot and check if it is running.

It doesnt work, yet.

When I open taskmanager, go to process tab, run a new task, PnkBstrB.exe, it does indeed freeze, but right after that, there is a black screen sort of.
Then it runs for like five, seconds, after wich it again dissappeard from the list.

Is that good or...?

Yes, thats normal. Did you try running the game after you ran PnkBstrB? Did you make the service to automatically start?

PnkBstrB.exe just doesnt work.

If I run it from task manager, it gives like a black screen, for about >0.5 seconds.
It also isnt listed in the processes tab.

Also when I wanted to play Battlefield2, it gave the ''PnkbstrB.exe isnt running'' error

Pleaze help me its getting really terrible not to play CoD4.

Sorry for the late reply.

Try updating Punkbuster: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

I am trying to find my file that can check for PB errors and reinstall it, I'll post back with it.
