I Have Windows Vista, Maybe That's The Problem Idk But Please HELP ME!!!

I Have An Hp Laptop With Vista Home Premium (As Stated Above) And I Never Had This Problem, But I Guess Its Because This Games Meant For Previous Versions of Windows,

I played the whole Half-life series on Vista so that's not the problem.

Things to try:

• Like Megabite said steam updates
• try runing Steam as an Administrator (right click icon -> Run as Administrator)
• If all elses fails in steam delete local content of Half Life then re-download it

HL2 works flawlessly under Vista. The only caveat to that is under Vista64 you have to run it in 32 bit vs. 64 bit because the 64 bit version is buggy.
