Flickering Screen then Freeze
I am playing dota (Warcraft III) online, and i see flickering on the screen at random intervals, and it lags each time until once it freezes the game completely. This is odd because i can run other more intense games such as Crysis, and Call of Duty 4 without any disruptancies.

Please Help
Thank you.

Laptop or Desktop?
Are you using a laptop or a desktop? It could be many things, I am afraid...

Sounds like it could be a heat issue, especially if you are using a laptop. What operating system are you using to play Warcraft III, as it does not run properly on newer versions of Windows such as Vista and 7, it's best to play on XP.

Im using a Laptop on window Vista Home Premium 64-Bit, and it doesn't look like a heating problem, i think its just incompatiblity with my Video Driver or OS. (im using the latest driver for Nividia 9800M GTS)

Have you tried running it in Compatibility Mode for "Windows XP with Service Pack 2"? I hate it when older games don't work properly, I get all funky colours when I try to play Fallout 1/2 on Vista, seems NVIDIA dropped support for 8-bit colour with their Vista drivers...

It worked when i ran the game in OpenGL but the resolution can only be 800x600x32 which sucks but i guess i have to live with it until warcraft III updates to be compatible with the NVIDIA drivers or vice versa. Waiting for my window 7 order to come in so maybe that will fix everything.

Glad you found a fix, the fact that its working with OpenGL confirms that it is an NVIDIA DirectX stack regression. You may be able to fix it with this program by finding the specific profile for the game your playing and adjusting the settings: http://www.nhancer.com/
