You buy a new Xbox 360 now. There's nothing to do when it breaks down, even less when you pretty much break it yourself.

what he said. You overheated it when you wrapped it in a towel, and probably cooked off something rather important.

Not sure if it's still under warranty or not, but I certainly wouldn't recommend mentioning that towel fiasco when I called to check.

Call Microsoft if you still got warranty and DEMAND a new Xbox and get really pissed and they might give you Xbox:Live or a game.

3 Red Rings of Death (RRoD) means a power problem or your console... and see that the towel trick is for the 3 rings and not the 1 ring like you had previously... so yeah you have definitely overheated it, which is meant to do something with the solder but it's not a permanent fix.

FYI go here for the 3 RRoD = http://support.xbox.com/support/en/u...egory=hardware

1 RRoD = http://support.xbox.com/support/en/u...egory=hardware
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/u...egory=hardware
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/u...egory=hardware

edit: http://www.wikihow.com/Do-the-Xbox-360-Towel-Trick on this link it says MS will repair for free

that's because it was overheating. Wrapping it in the towel merely exacerbated that.

I'd call MS, explain my plight (leave out the towel bit) and see if they play nice and offer to fix it for less than the price of a new one.

ain't gonna get much though. You can sell anything on ebay; I know a guy who promised to think of the buyer once a day for a week, got a nickel for it.

But for a busted xbox? Dunno. May not fetch a nickel.
