If you have a fast network connection and don't mind a large download, (and you have a Steam account) you can install MW2 without even touching the DVDs. In fact, I recommend it.
Register your game using the product key in the box. You will then be able to download and install the game directly from the Steam servers. It will be two large downloads.
If you don't have a Steam account, go to steampowered.com and download the program (click on Get Steam Powered), run, then create an account (it's free). Use the application to activate the key, then the download and install will happen automatically (or you can delay it for another time).

+1 on what courneyc said...
Once you reg with steam you don't have to do any patch searching cause its all automatic.
Plus the install should work PERFECT.

COD Deluxe edition is not MW2. It was a good game, unlike MW2. It sounds ike the disk needs a clean, as it does not being read properly. Give it a good clean, see if its scratched o rmarked, if so thats probably the problem.
