Laptop freezes when running games with battery on anything but power saver
Hello, Tech Guy forums

So my laptop, which I got last December, freezes when running games (WoW, Champions Online, Aion are a few examples) on anything but power saver. Both Balanced and High Performance cause me to crash anywhere from 5-30 minutes after loading it up.

What happens is: I'll usually be doing some questing or whatnot and out of the blue for no known reason the entire computer just freezes. The sound cuts off, I'm unable to move the mouse. It stays this way unless I hold the power button to turn it off.

This problem is nonexistent when my laptop is set to Power Saver, which poses a problem as it causes low framerate when playing.

If anyone has any suggestions/questions/answers I'd love to hear em' ^^

The power save modes your describing whether in vista or windows 7 have NO EFFECT what so ever when it comes to gaming.

You are most likely overheating...

Please download hwmonitor, play the game for 5 miniutes with it running in the backround... and then post a screen shot of your temps...

I'll do that, and appreciate the help.

However it without a doubt has an effect. The Processor Power in Power Saver mode is 50%, where it's 100% in both Balanced or High Performance. This has a noticeable effect on the game.

Edit: Also, I cleaned all the dust out of all vents/openings just today.

you graphic card is not displaying in the monitor and your cpu although not at the the threshold is quite hot... (still acceptable temperature)

Please go to "run" type in "dxdiag" without quotes and then click save all information and post your text file here...

Not sure if you just don't believe that the power save setting is it or not, but I don't -lag- in every game. I run them all fine when I'm able to use my computer at it's best but the constant freezes that occur when on Balanced or High performance keep me from doing so (There IS a difference in performance. It's possible your computer is so much better than mine that turning yours down does nothing, as my Laptop isn't amazing.)
