Exclamation Solved: Bad fps in cod4
Hi guys pretty new here and just wanted to ask a question about my fps in Call of Duty 4.
Ill give you my setup first:

AMD Phenom 9550 Quad-Core Processor 2.20 GHz

4.00GB RAM

Windows Vista 64-bit Operating system

ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics card.

Ok well i havent played cod4 before on this rig, because ive been playing Counter strike:source and on CS:S i get around 60fps and drops no lower than 50 and that is maximum settings, but it seems that when i run COD4 i get terrible fps (around 5-15 max!) and to me that is wierd as the half life 2 engine seems to be more graphically better than cod4 engine. Ive tried everything to changing packets to changing fps to "0", "125" and "250" and still the lag persists. I used http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/ to check if my pc was capable (i fully knew that it was) but just to make sure, and i was on the end of the scale.

If anyone could give me any advice to maybe stop this horrible lag that would fantastic,

Thanks Matt

P.s all of my drivers are up to date of what i know of, i only used to windows updater on the properties to check and nothing showed up.

Your graphics card is horrible. I don't think there's not much more to be said. You could want to get:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008 + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161287 for quite a lot better performance.
The reason why the Source engine game runs neatly is that it uses nearly none graphics card power at all, instead it makes 95% of the calculation on the CPU.

No, newegg only ships to US, Canada and China... You didn't mention your location, so I just used the "default" site..
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=34003 + http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=37474 would be your choice... Might be better prices at ebuyer or www.scan.co.uk etc...

Post back when you get the items shipped. If they get your FPS to a decent level, you may mark the thread solved by using the thread tools or the button on the top left.

You would probably want to go to BIOS and disable your onboard graphics card before installing the new PSU and graphics card.
