Transfer programmes to new machines
Can anyone help!

I,ve just bought a new lappy for my daughter to use at school. It is one of them little 10" jobbies,(Easy for a ten year old to carry), but I didn,t realise till after I bought it that it has no CD drive to install programmes etc that I already have on disc. (Totally legit and paid for).

How do I install programme files for mirosoft office 2003 etc onto the new machine?
I,m not paying for them again, I already have the original discs and microsoft help-lines? are totally useless.

copy the files from the machine that has a cdrom/dvdrom to a usb drive or share them over the network.

... also, some laptops come with 'trial' versions of MS Office that you can convert (on line) to the paid version by entering the product key from the case in which the purchased disc is stored. Have you tried that?

Besides the other 2 ideas already posted...

You can always get an external USB dvd drive.

Make an ISO of the disks and put them on a flash drive. Mount it on the laptop with something like Daemon Tools and run. Or download Open Office and use that instead.
