I had the same problem and tried to remove the AVG 8.5 using the 32bit removal tool, but it is still there. When I try to uninstal all I get is an error message saying "Installation Failed!" and under the details:

Installer initialization failed due to following error:
Error: @AvgErrorCode_0x0253 %FILE% = "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8"
@AvgErrorCode_0x0020

You might have to reinstall it to uninstall it. The AVG removal tool should take care of it.
