In-game Computer Crashing -- Help would be appreciated
My computer has been seemingly crashing randomly while I'm playing games. The game freezes up, shortly after the screen turns a random solid color and I need to manually turn it off or it'll stay that way. Certain games don't or rarely crash (such as Team Fortress 2 and Borderlands), while others (such as AION and Overlord) crash my computer consistently no matter what the graphic/sound settings are. I get no alerts upon startup after the crashes. I've scanned my computer several times for any virus' and I've come up with nothing. My brother, who has more knowledge than I, has taken a look at my computer and he is stumped as well.

If anyone has any idea why I may be crashing and/or a fix to my problem it would greatly be appreciated!

Here are my computer specifications:
Video Card: Radeon 4870 (drivers are up to date)
Processor: AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core 2.6 GHz
Motherboard: ASUS 780a
Hard Drive: 500 GB (250 GB Free Space)
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Operating System: Windows 7 (64-bit)

Thank you,
-Kurt

Have you done anything like running the problematic programs in compatibility mode, or lowering the hardware acceleration?
