I'm tearing my hair out over this one. Whenever I try to install a game from CD I am presented with CRC error: XXXX does not match file in setup directory, My specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4800+
2.63 Ghz
2.00 Gb o RAM
running Windows XP home edition service pack 1
Here are some things i have ruled out:
damaged CD's, they work fine in other computers
damaged disk drive, replaced it
damaged IDE cable, replaced it
damaged RAM, replaced it
software issues, formated PC, tried on both XP and Vista.

You mention that you replaced the ram, did you ever test it? Just because it's new doesn't mean anything.

Google Memtest86, download, burn to disc and boot the computer with the disc. Let it run for a while (a while meaning a few hours), if it gives any errors, you have bad ram.
