Solved: Choppy gameplay and lagspikes after format
Hello! I'm new to this forum.

I have a problem, I formatted my pc yesterday and today I tried to play HoN (Heroes of Newerth). Before I formatted I played the game with the settings on High with out lags and stuff but now I can't even play it on low. The framerate is choppy and in the team battles it sometimes freezes completely.

Have the latest drivers to the video card and soundcard.
AVG antivirus
all ports are open in the router
CPU @ ~30degrees celcius in standby and when playing 50degrees.
8800GTS 640mb videocard
2GB ram
Intel E6750.

Does any1 know what the problem might be? :/

A I would say close the ports you dont need open on your router, sounds like you put your computer in your routers DMZ which is asking for an attack, only open the ports you need. I would say disable AVG and try playing and let me know sounds like a process may be sucking back the power.

Tried what you said,
opened only the ports for the game (before the format I didn't have any ports open for the game) but that didn't help very much.
But I deactivated the firewall in AVG and activated Windows Firewall instead and also deactivated Resident Shield & Identity Protection in AVG. It seems to run much smoother now and I also removed all the dust on my video card and installed a new fan on the side of my case.

Posted an image attachment of the temperatures. The video card GPU lies @ 55degrees now just after I closed down the game. While playing it was about 65-75 or something.

Thanks for the reply!

During the game the GPU has to work much harder as the game is more graphically intense then just running windows you should run a speed test and test your connection speed its possible your ISP is throttling your connection.
